Welcoming baby Margo into the studio for her Seattle newborn photos was extra special. A few years ago, I had the honor of photographing her big sister, Sadie, as a newborn. Therefore seeing Sadie walk in as a proud toddler, ready to meet her new baby sister, felt like coming full circle. Sessions like these remind me why I love being a Seattle newborn photographer.

We captured Margo’s newborn photos in my natural light studio, which always provides the softest glow and timeless backdrop. The calm, bright space allowed both girls to settle in comfortably. Sadie gently held her sister, giving sweet kisses and showing off her new role as big sister. Watching their bond already starting to form was heart-melting.

I love capturing fellow photographers

An added layer of meaning to this session is that Margo and Sadie’s dad is also a photographer—the talented eye behind Ferries on Film. His stunning work capturing the Washington State ferries on film has inspired many, and so knowing he appreciates the beauty and depth that film brings made shooting this session on Fuji 400H film feel even more fitting. The soft tones and delicate colors that Fuji 400H delivers were perfect for documenting these early moments. (Side Note) I also got to capture this family on one of our beautiful WA State Ferries ! Throughout the session, we focused on creating simple, natural images. Highlighting Margo’s tiny features, Sadie’s bright personality, and the quiet joy their parents shared. In addition, the studio’s natural light paired beautifully with the Fuji film, allowing the Seattle newborn photos to have that dreamy, organic look that only film can truly offer.

As a Seattle newborn photographer, it’s always an honor to document growing families—especially when I get to see siblings grow and return to my studio. Margo’s session felt like a beautiful continuation of a story I first began telling with Sadie’s newborn photos. I can’t wait to see where life takes these sweet sisters.
