Welcoming a newborn into the world always feels meaningful, but capturing Seattle newborn pictures for baby Marshall felt especially timeless. As a Seattle newborn photographer, I love creating images that feel calm, emotional, and honest. This session focused on simple moments, soft natural light, and preserving the tiny details that change so quickly during those first weeks of life.
My natural light studio created the perfect blank slate for these Seattle newborn pictures. The clean walls, neutral textures, and soft window light allowed Marshall to remain the center of attention in every frame. Instead of overwhelming the images with props or bold colors, I kept the styling minimal and intentional. As a result, every photograph felt organic and timeless.

I photographed this session using film. I loaded my medium format camera with Fuji 400H film because of its soft pastel tones and creamy skin rendering. Even though Fuji 400H is no longer produced, it still remains one of my favorite film stocks for newborn work. The film handled the studio light beautifully and created gentle highlights that complemented Marshall’s delicate features.
For the black-and-white images, I used Ilford Delta 400 film. I love how this film captures texture and emotion with a rich, classic look. The grain feels subtle yet artistic, which adds depth without distracting from the connection between baby and his family. These images always become favorites because they feel timeless and emotional at the same time.
Throughout the session, I focused on capturing the quiet in-between moments. Marshall stretched, yawned, and curled up peacefully while his dads stayed close, completely wrapped up in every tiny expression and movement. Their calm energy filled the studio and made the entire session feel relaxed and natural. Those fleeting moments are exactly why I love being a Seattle newborn photographer.
Film newborn photography slows the process down in the best way possible. Every frame becomes intentional. Every image carries a sense of permanence. Because of that, these Seattle newborn pictures feel less like trends and more like family heirlooms that will hold meaning for years to come.
Sessions like Marshall’s remind me why I love documenting new beginnings. Simple light, timeless film, and genuine connection always create the most meaningful photographs.
